Syama Gold Mine, Mali

Randgold Resources have partnered with the CSTT-AO Group since the early 1990’s where the group was appointed as the freight forwarder of choice for Syama, their first gold mine in Mali, and later, Afrilog was appointed the service provider for their mines in Morila in 2000, Loulo in 2005 and the Tongon mine in Cote d’Ivoire which opened in October 2010. Today, Afrilog manage the total supply chain for Randgold Resources, including demand and supply planning, inventory control, procurement, transport (using appropriate modes of transport i.e. Sea, Air, Road and Rail, and the most effective and safest route) and warehousing of cargo. This applies equally to construction and operational phases of the mines being served.

With their sound knowledge of accessing remote locations in Africa, and an understanding of the social, environmental and regulatory issues across the continent, Afrilog ensures that all documentation, irrespective of the mode of transport, conforms to government regulations. They also arrange Air and Sea Charters for urgent and break bulk cargo from international suppliers.

Current initiatives include a project in the DRC and other prospects such as Massawa in Senegal as well as extensive exploration programs in Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Tanzania.

Afrilog measure performance and compile reports on a monthly basis against the agreed operating criteria including warehousing and inventory management, consolidations, crating and packaging, container stuffing, road/rail transport, air and sea freight forwarding and customs broking. Afrilog consolidate and crosscheck client invoices and give special attention to pre-shipment inspection requirements where necessary.
